Elementary Novels for 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders

The Historical Perspective website (click here to access) takes current events and compares them with historical events. For example, a recent political debate might be compared to the Lincoln-Douglas debates of the mid-1800s. There are also lesson plans for each article, and an archive menu to help you find what you need (for example, a 6 th grade teacher can find articles on Greek or Roman history, while a 3 rd grade teacher can find articles on South Carolina).

***After you log-onto the site, scroll to the bottom of the new articles to find the “Archive” menu. This will help you easily navigate the site.

If you love history, you've come to the right place. If you find reading and learning history difficult or tedious-we can help you too. Our goal is to set the record straight: History does NOT have to be boring! It should be engaging, entertaining, exciting, and (dare we say it) fun! We think that we have the secret to bringing history back to life-now it's just a matter of getting the word out.

Finally, an opportunity to step away from the textbook!

Homecourt Publishers has just released a new line of titles designed to tell you the story behind history. These are great for any history buff, storyteller, or trivia connoisseur. But these books are just step one. We also want to give teachers the ability to get "history on their side" and bring excitement into the classroom. That's why we've created The System. This is a complete repertoire of ready-to-use lesson plans, classroom activities, and learning strategies. The end result is an easy and efficient way for teachers to use our new titles in connection with their approved standards.
